The Community Band has also performed for many years at the city's annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony and at the Secret City festivals. As one of the oldest organizations in the City of Oak Ridge and one of the most active music organizations in the State of Tennessee, the Oak Ridge Community Band gives Oak Ridgers the opportunity throughout the year to hear its repertoire of outstanding band music including marches, classical, jazz, swing, show tunes, novelty pieces, and seasonal favorites. The Community Band concerts attract all ages, and its outdoor performances on such special holidays as Memorial Day, July 4, and Labor Day are very popular and heavily attended. Although the venue for the summer concerts changed many years ago from Jackson Square to the Performing Arts Pavilion in A. J. Bissell Park, the Band's contributions to the community remain dedicated to the goal of entertaining its audiences as well as giving area musicians the opportunity to perform.
